Blogiversary blog candy giveaway and supporting a good cause

This post will be pinned until 7th August, please scroll down to view today’s post

Happy Blogiversary to me! It’s one year since I began my blogging adventure and I’ve loved every minute of it. When I started, I had no idea what was ahead of me. I knew nothing of linky parties, challenges and design teams. I had no idea that I would make new friends who have become an important part of my life. I didn’t even know if people would look at my blog and certainly wasn’t expecting anyone to leave a comment. Now I’m the proud member of three design teams – Gecko Galz, Anything But A Card and Crafty Boots. When I made a commitment to myself that I would post a project every day I had no idea what that meant, especially as my job requires me to travel around a lot. But I did it, that’s at least 365 different projects (sometimes I did more than one!) and goodness knows how many blog challenges. So, time for a little party of my own with a little celebration give away and hoping to help a good cause at the same time.

I came across the charity Amy and Friends via Scarlet Clay’s inspirational blog. A talented artist, I was moved by her accounts of the progress of her adorable son Knox, who suffers from Cockayne Syndrome. Please do pay her blog a visit if you can and also check out her Etsy shop which raises money for CS research. She also has some hand drawn cards, raising awareness about Cockayne Syndrome, that you can download for free.

For the next month all my projects will feature a butterfly to show my support for the charity Amy and Friends who support children and families suffering from Cockayne Syndrome – the butterfly is the symbol of those whose lives have been cut short by CS. Through my blog I would like to raise awareness of the disease and the work of Amy and Friends and I’m hoping you might help too. All you have to do is visit the Amy and Friends website between now and August 7th, find out what a Butterfly Tree is and then buzz back here and leave a comment. In return, I will enter you into my blog candy give away to win this fabulous stash of crafting goodies and yes, if you’re not in the UK, I am happy to post to wherever you are.

If you are on Facebook, you can also “like” the Amy and Friends Facebook page and, of course, if you can shout about it to others –  tell your friends, share links and things on your own blog and/or Facebook page that would be fantastic. If you do, then let me know, via a comment here and I will give you an extra entry in the prize give away.

For every comment that is left here during the next month I will also make a donation to Amy and Friends.

Thank you for your support over the past year, especially to those of you that have left a comment or followed my blog and thank you for helping Amy and Friends.

  1. I have never heard of that particular disease. It is heartbreaking, yet so many beautiful on the faces of so many precious children. The butterfly tree is a great idea.

  2. Happy Blogiversary my dear friend and congratulations on posting a project each and every day for a year. Come rain or shine, whether you are travelling with work and rushed off your feet or abroad on holiday sipping cocktails in a bistro, you have managed to post at least one thing each and every day. It is a major achievement which very few of us could manage.

Your tribute to the work of Amy and Friends is very moving and I applaud the concept of their butterfly trees.

I hope that your blog gets lots of visitors over the next month and they all take the time to leave messages of support for what you are trying to do here, you truly deserve it for all of your hard work.

  3. Happy blogaversary! And thanks for raising awareness of CS- I had never really understood what it was..and wish all the families dealing with this much strength and peace.

  4. I was coming to your blog to see your Christmas in July project for Anything but a Card – and here I was given an opportunity to learn about these amazing children & their families! I learned so much by going to Amy & Friends – and a butterfly tree is where you can donate & get a virtual butterfly that goes on the butterfly tree for all to see 🙂

In addition, congratulations on your Blogaversary! I am new to blogging, only been about 2 months and I am learning 🙂 Thanks for an awesome blog! (now I am going to check out your project)

    • Thank you Christi and I so appreciate your taking time to leave a comment in support of Amy and Friends. You’ve no idea what that means 🙂 I’m going to buzz over and check out your blog – I hope you are enjoying it, you soon get to “Know” people and it does get addictive x

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
