Birthday Fairy for Knox

Yesterday, I found out that it was Knox’s third birthday. Knox, you will remember, is the delightful little boy that inspired my month long butterfly project to raise awareness of Cockayne Syndrome, from which he suffers, and to raise money for the charity Amy and Friends. You can see a lovely birthday ‘photo and wish him a happy birthday over on Facebook and read more about his story on his mum’s inspirational blog here.

My Brag Monday project this week is especially in honour of Knox’s birthday. I apologise in advance that the photo’s are, despite my best efforts, not great:

This is a special fairy, courtesy of The Graphics Fairy, who is bringing Knox a special little gift all wrapped up in silver paper.

There is a butterfly, created from double layers of  a Graphics Fairy image and then glittered, hovering in the little branch.

I printed two of the rose fairy images so that I could decoupage the skirt and hat to give it more dimension and of course I had to add glitter. I have also given her some wings, created from my favourite Graphics Fairy moth image.

The base is a small cotton reel, topped with moss and then covered with paper and decorated with a paper blossom and some more tiny butterflies.

The final touch is the little gold star which is there for Knox and his family to wish upon. I really hope their wishes come true. 🙂
