Barnsley Butterfly

March seems to be a busy month for birthdays. The first one I send is on the 1st and the last is on the 31st with several more in between. On several days there are two or more birthdays.  When I’m working away from home, which is my current plight, I find it hard to keep track and I hate to miss anybody out. It’s quite handy if I can build up a little stock so I’ve always got one ready.

Today I am sharing a card I have made for a friend next week. I am sharing this over at Papercraft Star for their Happy Birthday challenge.

For this card I have used some of this month’s papers and images from The Gecko Galz. I couldn’t believe it when I saw there was a vintage label from Wakefield and Barnsley, both of which are close to home. I edged all the papers and images with Vintage Photo distress ink and then layered them all up with the label on the top. I cut out a beautiful aqua butterfly, lifted its wings to give it some dimension and then popped on two little pale pink gems for its body.

I’ve made a little arrangement in the top corner of punched aqua branches, pink paper roses and an aqua button. I also tucked in some little scraps of lace.

I’ve stamped Happy Brithday onto some aqua card using Vintage Photo distress ink and added a couple more pink gems. The finishing touch is an aqua seam binding bow.

Now I may have made a start on the cards, but I haven’t got a clue about presents to go with them. Better get shopping!
