Altered CD hanging

Today I am sharing one of my Gecko Galz DT projects that uses images from this month, including some from Opticillusions who are featured in the current cross-promotion:

As you will have seen from the title of this post, this started life as a CD, one that is no longer in use. I’ve covered it with the clock image from Opticillusions.

The main image of the lady is from the Gecko Galz collage set Her Beautiful Colours. I’ve combined with a fabulous Opticillusions butterfly. I’ve cut a duplicate set of wings, sealed them with glitter ModPodge and layered them over the original to give some dimension. I’ve placed a paper rose over the top of the original that is in the image.

There are  some extra butterflies in different sizes, adding Glossy Accents to the wings.

I’ve added lots of seam binding and a little ivory crochet lace to create a hanger and popped on a few more roses. Both the seam binding and the roses were coloured with a Promarker so that they coordinated with the colour of the butterfly.

To finish it all off I’ve added the words, printed from the computer, and a scrap of muslin.

I am linking this up to the new challenge, #97, at Really Reasonable Ribbon, which has the theme of anything but a card.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Very pretty design, the butterfly wings look lovely with the coat of Glossy Accents. I have been saving half a dozen CDs for some time, just waiting for the right opportunity to use them in a craft project. Your CD wall hanging has given me something to think about.

I hope you have a good weekend.
