I love to sing. I can’t sing (or so Mr Beez tells me – I’m not sure I believe him really) but I don’t let a little thing like that stop me. A sentence or even just a word can trigger a song title in my head and that’s it I’m off. So when I saw that this week’s challenge at City Crafter was to use a song as your inspiration I couldn’t wait to get started. Except that my brain completely froze. First I couldn’t think of any songs at all – not one, then I could only think of songs that clearly couldn’t be portrayed in a crafty project. Next, I was singing no end of songs but then couldn’t think of a card or project to go with them. What to do? In the end, I put all thoughts of songs and creating right out of my head and sure enough inspiration crept right on up on me!
This was inspired by the Toploader hit – Dancin’ In The Moonlight. I was originally going to use Moon River and then I remembered this cute image from The Graphics Fairy and just started singing!
First I printed out the image onto cream card, used a circle of card to create a mask which I put over the image and then applied Vintage Photo distress ink. Once I’d built up the colour, I gave it a spritz with water to create a slightly mottled effect. Then I used black Archival ink and my Dylusions leaf stamp all around the edge of the card. Finally, I gave it all a coating of silver glitter spray.
I created some mats and layers with some peach and beige papers and used the same papers to punch out some blossoms. I’ve stuck the blossoms all around the edge to create a frame. Ideally, I would have liked to have given every large blossom a pearly centre, but I didn’t have enough and I think they would have driven me mad popping off all the time. I could have used some pearly glue but instead settled for one token pearl in the corner where I have also added a bow.
Of course the main problem now is that I can’t stop singing the song – just a shame that I only know a few of the words!
