Poppy tag

I was disappointed to miss the spectacular display of ceramic poppies at the Tower of London. So imagine how excited I was to learn that part of the display was being installed locally! I was certainly not going to miss out a second time so at the first available opportunity I buzzed over to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with Mr Beez. My pictures don’t really do it justice but take a look anyway:

Today I am sharing another project I created for the current Crafty Boots challenge which has the theme Remembrance/Giving thanks.

I created this tag using a digital image from the Gecko Galz Victorian Spring Kit. I printed the image out on to some white cardstock and then inked it all over with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain. I spritzed it with water and then used a water brush to remove more ink from the leaves and buds.

I printed out two more images and cut out the petal layers, inked them and then spritzed with water and crumpled them up to add texture before paper piecing them over the original.

The bow is seam binding coloured with Antique Linen distress ink and then spritzed with water and crumpled, just like the flower. The little MDF heart has been painted with gesso then picket fence crackle paint before being inked.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. What a great idea to send the Tower of London poppies on tour around the country, I am sure they are a sight you will always remember, they certainly look amazing in your photos.

I love this tag, it is a fab poppy, which works so well with the embellishments you have chosen.
