Every Inchie Monday has the theme of Khaki this week. I must admit to being a bit stuck on this one even though the immediate association was with all things military. I decided to create whilst thinking and see where that took me.

I started by creating the colour khaki by layering up several different Promarkers. Once I’d punched out the squares I added some faux stitching which I thought looked a little bit like the pockets on a military shirt. I was all set to turn one of my squares into just that when I got the idea of the medals. I made these from gold miri card and a scrap of red ribbon.

To the other two inchies I have simply added a poppy and a rose. The words just followed and seemed appropriate this week as we mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

To all those who risked and gave their lives – thank you.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. What a fantastic way to remember the D Day Landings, your designs bought a little lump to my throat. Great imagery and I love the sentiments.

Your designs put me in mind of the Overlord Embroidery (I am sure it was called the Overlord Tapestry when I saw it, many, many years ago but shortly after there was a huge discussion about whether it was an embroidery or a tapestry and the definition of each). It is massive and beautifully made, real crafts people.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
