Following on from what turned out to be Stampotique Saturday yesterday, it is, once again, Stampotique Sunday here on my blog as I share the project I have made for this week’s challenge over at the Stampotique Designers’ Challenge Blog. Lovely Arwen is asking us to use scribbles, either hand drawn or stamped, in our projects. I’ve made a little postcard:
At first, I found this challenge a little daunting and a little scary. Scribbling, doodling and mark making was something that I used to do a lot but have got out of habit of doing (except when I am in long and boring meetings!!). I always worry I will ruin whatever it is I’ve been working on. So working on this took me right out of my comfort zone until I relaxed, and then I started to have fun…a lot of fun!
Apart from the stamp, Pajama Party, and the words, everything else is hand drawn/scribbled by yours truly. I began with the trees, using a thin Sharpie to scribble the tree trunks.
Next I added colour by scribbling with my Polychromos, building up layers and texture.
Agatha, in her cute little suit, was paper pieced over the background. It took two attempts to do this as originally, I coloured her in proper bear colours but she got a bit lost amongst the trees!
I used acrylic paint and a white pen to create clumps of “flowers.”
I really enjoyed creating this, it was fun to let go of some of my self imposed boundaries. Expect to see more scribbling very soon – thanks Arwen for this inspiration.
Happy sunny Sunday and thanks for buzzing by.
