Dual

This week’s theme at Every Inchie Monday is dual. I had lots of thoughts – dual carriageway, dual controls, dual personality, dual function, dual tessellation… but, in the end I decided to play with dual colour options.

To make these I was able to indulge in one of my favourite pastimes – lining up coloured pens!

I used the broad nib to draw strips of colour.

P1070414

I cut out my inch squares and then stamped and punched out the celestial face.

P1070413

To finish I arranged the face on the square so that the colours were reversed.

Remarkably, I stopped at just four colourways. Once I’d done, I kind of wished I’d gone with my original plan and used distress inks. So, because these were very quick to do, that’s what I did.

Did I ever mention that I love maths? I especially  love playing with number and mathematical patterns and I even love algebra? So just  in case you were wondering about dual tessellation, which is to do with drawing lines through the mid points of  tessellating patterns, I’ve made some computer generated versions below.

As ever, the entries by my fellow players at Every Inchie Monday are unbelievably imaginative and creative and beautifully done so be sure to check them out.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. These are fabulous, but I can’t pick a favorite between the pens and the inks. The geometric designs are really cool too, and now I know where to look for math help. ~Diane

  2. I see I am not the only person who finds the way your mind works fascinating. More great makes and so clever.

As everyone else is picking their favourites, I think mine are the geometric patterns, but that probably says more about my OCD than anything else.

    • As I’ve said before, my mind is probably not a place to visit!!!! I love the geometric patterns too and would have loved to have done these with Promarkers. Did you ever have an Altair designs pad? I still have one somewhere along with a book of tessellating patterns that I used to use at school. xx

  3. As always, your series of Inchies are amazing!!! It is funny how there have been a couple similar entries this week. I thought Moon and Sun!! Anyway, your color choices are always fun to see!!!:0) Share Humanity
