A peaceful house

Is there peace in your house or is it, like mine, merry mayhem? Although I think there will definitely be light at the end of the tunnel (the production line for my Christmas cards is up and running!) I think there are a few more yards of darkness left before I see it! The house I’ve made today seems to be the very essence of peace and calm don’t you think?

I’m sharing this over at City Crafter Challenge Blog where the theme is to use a wreath and to add a touch of silver to it. I decided to go with a house instead of a card as I had an idea for how I wanted to create the wreath.

I’ve used a chipboard house, cut with the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Artful Dwellings die, and covered it with white cardstock. I’ve layered on Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire distress inks. I used more Chipped Sapphire to stamp the script and Picket Fence distress stain through a stencil to create the stars. I also added a touch of silver stickles around the very edge of the house.

The wreath was created from silver thread and I’ve topped it with silver and gold foil stars.

The 25th Dec is a stamp from Darkroom Door Christmas Inchies and the words are from a digital collage sheet by Lisa’s Altered Art.

Today I did manage to find a little oasis of calm in, of all places, an old fashioned hardware shop. It was stuffed full of all those things that you can never find when you need them plus lots of items that had all sorts of crafting possibilities. I am very excited about some little jam jars I have purchased so watch this space!

  1. Your house is so pretty, the things you do turn out so wonderfully, love this house. Love your Christmas wreath and Dream house also. I could look at your creations all night to see what all you add to them. So great.
I’m still working on making things for 12/13 craft show. Got business license in mail today so at least know now we got into show. Nice way to let people know huh? Hoping I make some money as had to shell out almost $40 for show entry and bus. license, for us that’s a lot.
We got out our Christmas boxes today, didn’t keep much out for house, trying to keep it simpler this year, not have something on every surface and all over the place. Cleaning it up and organizing after holidays is getting to be bit much more than I want to do anymore. Will be giving lots to thrift store. Didn’t even get my village out this year. Just putting out today what I got out pooped me out.
Hubs was looking for garland and lights and things to hang up on railing for front porch. He even put some lights around on the front fence. Looks pretty.
Found several things I made last year that never got used so did use them now. It’s kinda nice not making such a big mess from decorations all over house. Craft supplies all over is bad enuf but at least can put those away after craft show. Take it easy before holiday. Reading this makes me realize I’m getting older and the urge to try to do too much is pretty much gone. Would be nice to have a peaceful holiday. What a concept.
Hope you aren’t killing yourself trying to get too much done. Take good care of yourself. How’s your son and girl friend doing? Happy season and weekend

  2. You sure know how to add everything that I love to your tag. The wreath, using blue, silver, stars. This is a jawdropper! Thank you so much for joining us at CCCB this week!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
