The current challenge at Sunday Stampers is “writing,” so a bit of a Deidre Dilemma – whether to stamp the writing or not? Then I remembered some fabulous papers I bought, courtesy of Debbi Moore and Create and Craft, a lifetime ago and decided it was time to let them see the light of day. They are multi-toned, double sided papers with Shakespeare script all over them and I chose a yellowy/orange one, with excerpts from Twelfth Night, to use as a background for my little creation. Had I known how this was going to turn out I might have opted to use the Hamlet one instead.
I applied the paper to a beer mat from Calico Crafts then inked the edges with Wild Honey and a touch of Vintage Photo distress inks. The flowers are cut from the same paper using Spellbinder dies. More of a Deidre Dilemma deciding which side of the flowers to showcase. I spent a fair old amount of time flipping them from one side to the other.
I stamped the bee and some honeycomb directly on to the background, then stamped the bee, glittered its wings and applied it directly on top of the stamped image, leaving its wings free.
The ribbon was white seam binding that I coloured with Wild Honey and Scattered Straw. I added a little key, some black faux pearls and a little black button. The final touch was to add the Chit Chat stickers.
As you know, yesterday I had an early start and was destined for the far reaches of North Yorkshire. As it happened, I only made it as far as Doncaster! My connecting train was delayed and kept on getting pushed back further and further. After I quick conflab with my colleague – who was already waiting for me at Northallerton station, whilst I was stuck in Doncaster – we decided it was probably simpler for me to turn round and go back home. So I did! “‘Tis midsummer madness,” or much ado about nothing!
