The bride wore black

I am currently away, staying with my brother and having a fun time being an Aunty to my two nephews Freddie (7) and Henry (5). Unfortunately, the journey south yesterday was horrendous, with hold ups everywhere, so we were just to late to collect them from school. However, there was plenty of time for high jinks once we arrived!

Today’s post is not for the faint hearted! I’m sharing one of the journal pages I have created for the round robin journal swap that I am involved in.

P1040326The theme for this journal is the macabre. If you have visited my blog for some time you will know that I am a big Halloween fan so this type of project is right up my street. I love this image of a skeleton bride and groom, I actually think it’s quite fun, but you may disagree.

P1040320The words underneath the picture say “‘Til death do us Part”. I created the background with Dylusions sprays and then stamped in black, using honeycomb and script stamps plus my signature bee.

Once the image was applied, I gave it all a coat of crackle glaze then blobbed on some thick red acrylic paint and crackle accents. This creates a lovely texture.

I used  Black Soot distress stain to colour some muslin. I left some bits without colour to add to the ghostly feel and then arranged two pieces to create curtains. I sprayed the curtains with silver glitter and then added a light sprinkle of pewter glitter. Together they create a cobwebby feel.

I ‘ve added a black rose and some red glittery hearts. The two skeleton heads are brass charms and on one side there is some brass coloured ball chain.

Now I just have to do the reverse page, the background is already prepared but you’ll have to buzz back here to see how I finish it off!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend won’t you.
