Summer-bee

Now I’ve not exactly made a secret of the fact that I have a punishing work schedule over the summer. Thankfully, at the end of last week I took a couple of days off. Too tired to do anything much I settled for afternoon tea at Chatsworth House and the following day a meal out, including a crafty cocktail or three, with Mr Beez to celebrate my birthday. Before I show you today’s project I have to share the gifts that youngest Beez gave me:

A make up bag or pouch for crafty stuff and…

… a calico bag. How inspired and clever is he? Naturally, both his older brother and his father were thrilled that at his cleverness 🙂

This week’s Sunday Stampers challenge has the theme of “backgrounds.” I’m afraid I couldn’t help myself but turn mine into a little housey type thing.

P1080858

Actually, as I was making it, this reminded me of a little bee hive.  For the background I first coloured a piece of card with Squeezed Lemonade and then dusted on Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and smidge of Rusty Hinge through my Memory Box textured honeycomb stencil. I left the stencil in place and then stamped some script through it using more Wild Honey.

It’s quite hard to see the script in the photo but in real life it looks quite effective. I applied the background over the chipboard shape I had cut out using the Artful Dwellings Alterations die. Once dry, I stamped the flowers using Mowed Lawn and then Worn Lipstick. I used Black Soot distress stain around the edge and added dots with a white gel pen. Then it was just a question of stamping and paper piecing the bee and adding the chit chat sticker.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Happy birthday my dear friend. There is nothing better on your birthday than being surrounded by the ones we love and spending time with them. Lovely presents like this are a real bonus. Have you made up your mind how you are going to use – craft, make-up? I have a make-up bag I take on all my travel which I call my falling apart bag, but that’s another story.

I love your take on a stained glass window, honeycomb style, with your central personalised logo.
