Pink and Red with bees and hearts

As I expected, having had the week drag on and on, Saturday whizzed by and here we are already at Sunday. Over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog Sue Davis is asking us to use only hues of reds and pinks. I made a little coordinated Valentine’s set:

I knew I wanted to use Daniel’s Hearts as I bought this stamp last year and then never used it. I also I knew I wanted to use bees. The rest just sort of happened.

For the card I used some cut and dry foam to apply Worn Lipstick distress ink. The hearts were stamped with red Archival ink and then I coloured the central part with Polychromos.

I stamped and paper pieced the bee before adding some splatters using Candy Apple distress ink.

I added some glossy accents to one of the hearts.

The whole time I was making the card I kept thinking about making a little beehive decoration along similar lines. As it happened, I already had a piece of chipboard cut to that shape. I used pretty much the same technique as I did for the card substituting the smaller bee stamp and adding a few flowers using the Daisy Daisy stamp.

For the rest of the day I shall be finding out just what it takes to achieve 10,000 steps. My work has bought me a Fitbit which monitors such things. I have a feeling it’s going to take me quite a long time!

  1. I really like the combo of hearts and bees on that pink background. Great job inking an uninked stamp! That’s always a good thing!

Thanks for playing along with us at Stampotique Designers Challenges.

  2. Definitely rocking the pink with this one Mrs Beez … and Mr Beez is in for a treat on Valentine’s Day. I had a little chuckle at the Bee Mine, very good.

Good luck with the 10,000 steps – rather you than me!

    • Thank you. I had to do a bit of cropping and fixing to get that sentiment! I only managed 5,000 so will be interesting to see how I get on today!xx

    • Aww thanks Sam. You in particular, as well as the rest of the designers are such an inspiration and I’m loving being able to play along on a more regular basis.

  3. Brazo Lisette, so pretty and love how you used the ink to shade The hearts are so cute, love the shape of them. You have won a big gold star just for being your talented self, again.
How do you think to do all the tricks/techniques you do?
How fun to have a Fitbit and so nice of your work to get it for you. Bet you can trace your 10,000 steps before you know it. Happy week.

    • Thank you. I managed about 5,000 yesterday but it was the weekend. I will see what happens today when I have a busy working day 🙂

  4. This is really sweet, I love how you’ve used the bees and the hearts together. Thank you so much for joining in with our challenge at Stampotique this week. Sue xx
