Lavender’s green

Apologies if you came to view this post on Monday. I inadvertently clicked the wrong button!

Using purple is the theme for this week’s Sunday Stampers Challenge and I have been having a play with stencils and stamping to produce two pieces that are the same but different. Take a look:

P1080999 P1080998

I’ve used the same techniques and the same Stampotique sunflower but have altered the colours and additional embellishments.

For both tags I started by dusting the base with ink – Tumbled Glass on the first and Antique Linen on the second. Then I ‘ve used a brick stencil and built up the colour with the same inks and added a second colour in places choosing Shaded Lilac for one and Frayed Burlap for the other. Whilst the stencil was still in place I stamped through it using a dictionary page stamp and Vintage Photo.

Then I stamped the sunflower over the top and paper pieced it. I used a dotty stamp over the petals.

Then the tags went in different directions. For the purple one I used one of my AHA girl stamps and a punched butterfly. I used a zig-zag stitch stamp around the edge and added a border top and bottom that was stamped, cut out and stuck. The stamp if a newbie from Stampin’ Up! and makes a nice addition to my favourite Dylusions stamp that is similar.

I used a stencil for the words.

On the second tag I added some stamped bees and the words.

I used a different faux stitching stamp and a Dylusions border stamp, using some green Archival ink, top and bottom.

I love this technique of stamping through stencils and plan to try out a lot more. Like I did, you can find lots of inspiration and ideas over on Wendy Vecchi’s blog.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Lisette I love the “honey bee”zzzz one, that gives me such a warm feeling I just want to smell that flower. The other one is cute as well, but the bees are bees you know 😉

  2. This is so innovative. I would never think of making a purple sunflower but that is so different and I like it. The overall project is fantastic.

  3. Oww, I likie. I am already a big fan of this gorgeous daisy stamp and the backgrounds are fabulous, I adore the stencilling on the bricks.

I love both of these tags and I am not choosing a favourite!

  4. Love stamping thru stencils… makes me happy cos it is a *free* technique with the tool, if you know what I means lol Fabby creations as ever Lisette… Thanks for joining in with the Sunday Stamper x

  5. Isn’t it amazing how just a few changes can completely alter the look of a project? Your border treatment on both tags is great: I love the look of the rolly green border on the bee tag–it’s just as though the sunflower is growing on a beautiful green hill. I also really like the effect of stamping through a stencil–another thing to put on my Lisette’s Cool Stuff to Try list! Thanks for the inspiration and eye candy! xo

    • ha ha – I love that list! It’s great to do same but different and that whole thing of starting off preferring one and then changing back and forth (or is that just me)! Thank you Roberta 🙂

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
