Today’s card is a variation on several I have done recently using a lovely set of stamps from Chocolate Baroque.
You will recognise the stamp and the colour combination I’m sure. However, this is a very special card as it is the one I presented to Mr Beez this morning to celebrate our thirty-first wedding anniversary. Yep, 31 happy years! I was a war bride – that is we got married during the Falklands War.
I first stamped and heat embossed the image before going over it with distress inks – Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo. I tried to keep the flower petals lighter than the rest of the square but also darkened the centre.
The sentiment, which I made up myself (although I’m sure it’s not particularly original!), was printed out on my computer before colouring with distress inks as before.
I printed out the bees again and, leaving their wings white, applied them on top of the stamped image with sticky foam pads. The finishing touch was to add the glittery hearts.
We were blessed with warm sunshine on the day we got married, rather like today. However, there was a thunderstorm whilst we were eating our lunch. There was also one the previous evening when the church was struck by lightening. Everyone was wondering if it was a sign! Well if it was, we must have been doing something right to have lasted all these years, still enjoy each other’s company and to have produced two very handsome sons!
