What’s the last thing you want to do when you wake up feeling rubbish with a sore throat? Well in my case it was unload the van. At least it was sunny, which is a lot more than can be said for the look on my face!!!
It wasn’t until I saw this week’s Crafty Boots challenge – Anything But A Square – that I realised that my cards are generally square or rectangular. I have made the odd triangular card, but that’s it. I would have loved to have had a go at making something round, but instead have gone for a folded star:
I saw the idea on Pinterest and you will find a clear and detailed video tutorial over at BellaMio’s BlogSpot It’s very simple to do although it does require a bit of measuring and it’s tricky to cut the 12″ paper if you haven’t got a large paper trimmer. I used a double sided paper for this, which saved me some time, but the original uses blank card which is then decorated with patterned paper.
Once you have made the basic shape it’s just a question of adding appropriate embellishments. I decided to go with the lace trim which also features in the tutorial then continued my current obsession with my Sheena Douglass flower stamps and Chocolate Baroque bee stamps. The flowers have been coloured with Picked Raspberry distress inks. I made some darker than others.
I added a little silver glitter glue to the centre of the flowers and then popped on a few punched miniature blossoms for good measure.
I’ve also added a stamped sentiment.
Hope you’re having a good week. Thank goodness we’ve passed the Wednesday hump!
Very pretty star card, what an unusual shape – I tried to follow the tutorial but got a bit lost. I love the colours of the paper you have used and all of the pretty embellishments.
Thank you for sharing your work with all of us at Crafty Boots Challenges,
Dionne
PS I hope you are felling better soon.
What a great card and just right for our anything but a square challenge, thanks for joining us at crafty boots.
