Buzzing with some news

I’m so pleased to be able to share some exciting news with you today. I have been asked by the super talented Heather Hudson, my Gecko Galz teamie, to join her My Artistic Adventures Challenge DT. No matter where you were in the world that day you would have heard my squeals of delight. Obviously it was a no brainer and I replied “yes” as quickly as I could, just in case she had emailed me by mistake!! Not only is Heather an amazing crafter, she also produces fantastic digital collage sheets that are available via her Etsy shop. Ahead of my first “official” project tomorrow I thought it would be fun to make a little something to celebrate my news and it just so happens that Heather had the perfect collage sheet which just shows why this was meant to be!

Do you see what I mean? For my card I’ve used the gorgeous Vintage Bumble Bee Calm collage sheet which has tags, squares and words. The beauty of Heather’s sheet is that the quality remains the same no matter what size you print out at.

I printed out two of the tags in different sizes plus one of the squares. The were all mounted on to dark brown cardstock, which looks black in the picture, and outlined with a sprinkle of gold glitter. I used glue gel for the top two layers to add dimension.

I decided this project was worth sacrificing some of my favourite Stampin’ Up! lace for and used a strip along the bottom of the card and then some scraps on the beehive tag.

To embellish, I’ve used some seam binding, scraps of a thicker lace and a paper rose from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Not only is this card is also perfect for the current music themed challenge over at Crafty Boots (and you have a whole week left in which to play along), it will also be perfect for my friend’s wedding in December.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Huge congratulations my friend, of course it was not a mistake, Heather knew exactly what she was doing when she invited you to join her DT. And what a perfect sheet for you, fabulous bees, but it takes your imagination to know what to do with it. Gorgeous card.

I too treasure my favourite lace pieces and use them only for my best projects.

    • Thank you. That lace is my absolute favourite from Stampin’ Up! and it was part of a kit so I think once it’s gone it’s gone! xx

  2. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! We all know how awesome you are, and I’m not surprised that you were chosen for Heather’s team. That card you made is drop-dead GORGEOUS!!! I love the shapes, the bow, the lace, the soft coloring, everything. I think this has to be one of my very favorite cards you’ve made. Totally, totally lovely!
This is funny: I was looking at Heather’s shop earlier this week, saw this same bee collage sheet, and thought “I bet Lisette would love this….I wonder if she already has it?” I was wondering if there were some way to send it to you, but now I don’t need to. 🙂
Congrats again; soon you’ll be on so many design teams that you’ll have to quit your day job!xxx

    • Aww bless you and if I could make a living from being on DTs I’d swap in a trice. So funny you should have found the bee collage sheet – it was a no brainer for me and I hope I can talk her in to doing some more 🙂

  3. Beautiful indeed and right up your alley with the beautiful Bees too! Congrats, Heather is fortunate to have you on her team! ~Diane

  4. Congrats Lisette, so happy for you, of course the email was for you dear lady, you are the best. What an honor to be asked and singled out. So happy for you. That lace you used was first thing I noticed before really looking at your creation.
When I think you can’t possibly make anything more gorgeous or perfect and you do it again. Love this so much, would be perfect when I have all my bee/skeps/hives, etc up in living room. Just took most of it down this past week as I’m making different pieces to hang up more for present weather/seasons coming up.
This digital page would be so perfect for my bee art, make something myself with the sheet. I’ll to visit that site so I can buy the sheet. sure glad you found that so you could make one of your incredible creations – again. Happy week You’ll spoil us with 2 posts in one day.

    • Thank you. Heather does the most fabulous sheets so I’m going to have a lot of fun. Would love to see all your bee stuff and your other seasonal décor. My problem is that, aside from Christmas, I can’t bear to clear things up so I just add more!!! It’s been a hectic time blogging wise, but I love it and it’s all the more special when I hear from people such as you. Hugs xx

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
