Good morning and Happy Monday to you all. I hope you had a lovely weekend and, for those of you in the UK especially, I hope you enjoyed that glimpse of the sun that manifested itself.

Being Monday it is of course time for my Brag Monday project to share over at the Graphics Fairy who has, by the way, given  her already amazing blog an overhaul. Be sure to buzz over and see the new look as well as all the fantastic free graphics that are so generously available for free.

This is another of those cute inchie houses from Art Chix that I have made into a little hanging for a friend. I love these houses and definitely need to get a bigger supply. I’m already thinking Halloween ornaments and yes, Christmas!

P1040433I gave the bare wood a coat of gesso and then inked using my favourite bee colours of Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge. I dried it using my heat gun and then applied a rough coat of clear crackle paint.

Then came the hard part – choosing the image to go in the frame. I ended up choosing the beehive, but I might change this for one of my bees at a later date. I also used my favourite French music image on the frame itself. Both these image came from The Graphics Fairy.

I added a little bit of muslin/scrim and then topped this with flowers, leaf ribbon trim and a tile that says “friend.”  The little shimmer you can see tucked near the leaves is a tiny silver star, but it didn’t like being photographed up close.P1040429

The finishing touch was the little bee charm and another bit of muslin/scrim.

I love the summery feel of this piece and hope it will cheer up a friend who is having a hard time right now.

Thanks for buzzing by and here’s to a good week.

  1. These little houses really are fab. I love this design, you make it look easy but I know from experience that these tiny designs are much harder than they appear.

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
