Happy Bank Holiday Monday one and all. Don’t you just love the month of May with its two holidays – one at each end? Having been away over the weekend it’s great to have a bonus day even if it is going to be spent mainly cleaning and tidying up.
I’m very excited about today’s project as it is yet another one of those things that I have been wanting to do for ages but never quite had the courage to do. As it turns out, I needn’t have worried as this could not have been easier. I do hope you like it:
This is currently a brooch, but I have a plan to turn it into a bracelet cuff, but maybe I’ll just make another. You’ll recognise my favourite bee graphic from The Graphics Fairy. I printed this out onto cardstock, placed a glass domed cabochon over the top and then added a circlet of black gems around the edge.
At this point I was wishing I had a ring bank to put this on top of and I may come back to that idea. Next I made a little circlet of some stunningly pretty lace/net trim that I got from Wild Orchid Crafts.
I love the brooch just like this and it’s this version that think I will make into a cuff, with more lace as the base. I may also add in some pearls. However, my original intention had been to place the bee in a circlet of this striking houndstooth ribbon, from Really Reasonable Ribbon, without the lace, so I tried that too!
but I like the combination of both together.
I can’t decide which of these I like the best so…
… you choose!
