Well a fabulous night was had by all at last night’s Burn’s Night Celebration. There was haggis and whisky and pipers and lots and lots of dancing.
This week’s challenge at City Crafter Challenge is to use hearts in your project and it doesn’t have to be Valentine related. As usual there are some lovely examples from the Design Team. My submission is a journal page:
As you can probably tell, the key ingredient here is Dylusions ink. I used green and blue tones to create the background and built up layers using stencils, first to ghost, and then to add more colour. I used a variety of stamps to build up further layers and green and blue toned ink pads. Once I was happy with the result I stamped around the edge using black Archival ink.
I cut hearts from book pages and used pink, red and yellow Dylusions to colour these. Once they were dry I stuck them to the background and then added a pattern of dots around the edge using black and white acrylic paint and the end of a paintbrush.
The words were printed out on my computer. To finish the page I used two of my bee stamps and stamped them on to the page itself and the hearts. I used black Archival again and then a little yellow paint for the bodies and a smudge of clear glitter glue on the wings.
I’m especially pleased with how the background turned out for this.
