B..b..boom!

This week’s word at Every Inchie Monday is “explosion.” I had ideas of a little paper engineering but…er… did these instead!

P1070519

The first two are simply watercolour pencils – I wanted to add the word boom, but didn’t trust myself not to muck it up so created one especially.

P1070520

The next two are stamped, using distress inks and a “splat” stamp.

Lastly, I just wanted to play with Promarkers and see what happened if I did a little pointillism.

Because these were so simple, I felt I owed it to you to have something extra for you to take a look at and so created this vintage playing card.

P1070523I’ve called it a playing card as it is larger than a standard ATC but it is just a piece of kraft card. I’ve used Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Gathered Twigs distress inks for the background stamping. You will spot that I used a script stamp, honeycomb, dots and then the same splat stamp I used for the inchies.

P1070524

I stamped the bee, B and Honey Bee in jet black Archival ink and then used a water brush to paint out the bee’s wings.

This looks like it belongs in the library at Hogwart’s!

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. I adore the color schemes for your inchies. I am so in love with orange hues lately. I think you hit it out of the park with this one. such great work.

    • Thank you. You can never have too many bee stamps. I try and rotate them so they all get to play, but I’ll confess I have a couple that are still unused πŸ™‚

  2. A real treat of a visit, two for the price of one. Your inchies and a feast upon the eye, a real riot of colour and wonderfully made. The vintage playing card is delightful and classic Mrs Beez.

I hope you are feeling better today.

    • Thank you, I love those colours too and it never occurred to me how they are such a contrast to the vintage bee.

  3. Love the inchies, so bright and colorful in such a small space too! Love the card, the wire stamp is gorgeous, the paper is beautifully treated too! ~Diane

  4. Again with the awesome color scheme… everyone seems to see red orange and yellow when they think of an explosion. I LOVE IT! You are so amazing to do this many, when I can barely get my one done before the next one is ready to go up! haha Very nice offering!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
