Between now and January 6th I am sharing some little bee related projects – the 12 Days of Christmas with a Mrs Beez twist. I hope you enjoy them.
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
…nine bees dancing,
Originally I was going to make these bees ballerinas and give them all tutus but it didn’t really work! Instead I thought I would have them dancing in a circle and was very tempted to put some handbags in the middle. However, I decided these bees would be more likely to be dancing around some flowers.
Recipe: Bee stamp (Stampotique), flower stamp (by Sheena Douglass), Picked Raspberry distress ink, branch stamp (by Lavinia), white pen, yellow and pink Promarkers.
To get the bees in a circle I cut a circle of card and then stamped the bees round the edge. I will be honest and tell you that it took four attempts before they were correctly spaced, but this was probably less attempts than I imagined! I dusted on some more Picked Raspberry, using an Inkduster and then coloured the bees’ bodies with yellow Promarker. The flowers were stamped on to Japanese rice paper, coloured with Promarkers and dotted with white pen. I crunched them up slightly before gluing to the centre. I added white highlights to the stamped branches.
Thanks for buzzing by.
