The new theme of the fortnightly challenge over at Anything But A Card is Summer Fun. I certainly had fun making this little summer scene for my Design Team piece:

P1050296She looks like she’s having some fun too doesn’t she? And wouldn’t you if you were sporting the ruby slippers of mermaid tails?

Instead of creating inside a box or tin I’ve used a piece of driftwood from Calico Crafts. I created some “sea” using a piece of blue chiffon and some shimmery net.

The mermaid is an image from The Gecko Galz beach babes collage set. I created the tail from cardboard and then covered it with red glitter.

The shimmery sand is a combination of some yellow toned Flower soft and champagne coloured mica flakes. I’ve added some little red blossoms and a red cocktail umbrella to match her tail.

The words were printed off on the computer.

The finishing touches were some gold shells and a miniature starfish.

I love creating these miniature scene and am so pleased I finally managed to get to do a mermaid! Make sure you take a look at what the other Design Team members have created for this Anything But A Card Challenge and you still have a week to share your creations with us. Do come an join in the summer fun!

    • Thank you Alison – wouldn’t you just love to sit on a beach like that?! Actually, right now I’d settle for any beach!!

  1. Oh my word…two beautiful beach scene projects. Thanks for sharing your blogger post with the Gecko Galz Yahoo Group. I was really curious about the base of your assemblage piece. Driftwood – ingenious!

    Thanks, Wendy
