The Gnome Office

Sunday seems to have become my default day for the Stampotique Designers’ Challenge.  This week it is particularly serendipitous as on this particular Sunday it also happens to be the birthday of the super, super talented Sam Read and it is she who has set this week’s challenge theme, SDC #232, “Spots and Stripes.”

Originally I had planned to make a little house featuring a gnome but then, by some quirk of fate and untidiness, a packet of MDF toadstools fell off the shelf and on to the floor! One of the larger ones actually fell out of the packet and looked right at me! After a coat of gesso I’ve coloured the toadstool with a combination of acrylic paints, markers and polychromos. The toadstool is from Calico Craft Parts.

Just to maximise on the stripes and spots theme I added these to the hats and jackets of the 3 Dwarfy Gnomes stamp.

My little scene is affixed to a piece of driftwood to which I have added a little stamped border. The sign was printed from my computer. Until he retired, Mr Beez worked at the Home Office and I thought this would be a nice play on words.

Happy Birthday Sam – hope you have a lovely day with lots of fun…and cake!

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Well how is that for fate?

This is so adorable, such fabulous characters and wonderfully cheerful colours. I keep sniggering at the sentiment, just great.
