This week, I knew that, for reasons beyond my control, I would have to miss the Stampotique Designer’s Challenge. The challenge goes live on Wednesday morning and I had an early morning appointment in Hull which meant leaving the house at silly o’clock. Although I was due back late afternoon, the next thing on my schedule was setting off on my jolly bobs to the Netherlands and not due back until Wednesday. And as much as I just love the SDC challenge, I was happy to  sit back this week as, after all , I had a lovely holiday to enjoy. But then I saw the challenge theme, as set by the super talented Kristen, which this week is to be inspired by a favourite TV show or movie. It might have been 5.30am, but I knew I had to find a way to whip a project PDQ!!!

You see my decision to buy the adorable “Smile,” was based solely on that quote from the film Elf! So knowing that where there’s a will there’s a way, I pulled out all the stops to make sure that Smile met his destiny!!

I threw some essential crafting supplies into a bag – ink pads, stamp, crayons, scissors, not forgetting a pencil sharpener and rubber and on the train, back from Hull, did the necessary to create my Elf fancy dress for Smile. Once home, I assured Mr Beez that I was just going upstairs to finish packing, but diverted in order to ink up a quick background, using a postcard for my base. I used a stencil to create some ghosting and inked stencilling, plus an assortment of stamps and Polychromos.

The words were printed from my computer. I was almost thwarted in my attempt to complete this in record time when I discovered that Mr Beez had already packed the camera!!!

My escapades possibly make me the maddest crafter on the block but hey, you just have to smile, after all, smiling’s my favourite 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thanks for buzzing by.
