New Year tussie mussie

Today is probably my least favourite day of the year – the day when Christmas finally comes to an end. All the decorations are down and the excuse for a “festive” cup of coffee has gone. For me, there is only one thing to do and that is start planning for next Christmas! Seriously, I do start making notes however, I still end up, like the majority of folk I suspect, having a panic in December!!! Anyway, here’s to 2014 and hope it brings everyone health and happiness and whatever else you might wish for you and yours.

Today also sees the start of a new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges and the theme is Anything Goes. I’m sharing a New Year tussie mussie:

For this I used a wooden canapé cone from Pipii. These are actually made from bamboo shavings and are incredibly light, much easier than messing about making your own. I covered the cone with some paper from the Gecko Galz Blue Willow collection and then ran some white ruffle lace around the top.

I cut out a beautiful image from the Gecko Galz Happy New Year ephemera set and stuck this to the front, adding crystal clear glitter for some new year sparkle.

The handle was made from a silver chenille stem that I hot glued to the inside. I added white paper roses and seam binding to each side. I also added a New Year sentiment – another Gecko Galz image.

Please do buzz over to the Crafty Boots Challenges site and see what the rest of the Design Team have been up to. We’d love you to share your projects and with an Anything Goes challenge this is the perfect opportunity for you to try out some of your new crafting supplies or to use up old stash.

I’ll be buzzing back later with my final post for the 12 Bees of Christmas, hope to see you then.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. I love the fabulously fresh look of your tussie mussie. Now don’t get me wrong, I love all the Christmas colours and no one likes a bit of glitz and glitter more than me, but your lovely fresh, clean colours are a breath of fresh air and your design is so pretty.

  2. Oh, this is so pretty! Our family has always left our decorations up until the 12th day as well. Most people in the US take them down as soon as Christmas is over, but I’m usually still adding a few decorations on Christmas day!

    • I’m thrilled to know you leave your decorations up until the last minute. I read of so many people clearing it away and being glad about it!!!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
