Happy New Year! Are you partied out or did you, like me, choose a quieter option? What about resolutions? I actually have quite a few for this year and I feel quite determined to keep them. In terms of crafting, I want to get back into taking part in blog challenges. Work commitments meant that I missed quite a few of my favourites last year so in 2016 I plan to be on the case! I shall also complete the grand tidy up of my crafting supplies. I will keep you posted!
Anyway, I’m kicking off the new year with one of my Gecko Galz DT pieces. The new customer challenge theme is “All that glitters.” I’ve made a little altered arch:
The base is a framed wooden arch ATC from Calico Craft Parts. I gave it a base coat of gesso and topped it with some purple Dylusions paint. I covered the inside of the arch with some paper from the Gecko Galz High Society paper pack. The image is from the Perfect Portraits collage set and I printed the words from my computer.
The gold glitteriness was created using Prima Encrusted Jewels in gold. These are mixed and textured embossing powders and, ideally, should be heat embossed from underneath otherwise they can blow away. As I was using wood, this wasn’t going to work so instead I used a little pva glue (Cosmic Shimmer) and then used the heat gun from a distance. As you can see, this worked quite well!!
Who knows what 2016 has in store for the Beez this year? I’m hoping it will be full of good things and, as Mr Beez has hung up his work boots and retired, a slightly less hectic work schedule for me.
Thanks for buzzing by.
