Musical pumpkin

If you buzzed by yesterday you will know that there is a new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges with the theme of music. Here’s my second DT project that I created:

This was made using Tim Holtz Sizzix die, Pumpkin Parts. Now I’ll share a little confession with you. When I first used this die I was totally unimpressed. I had to run it through the Big Shot three times before it cut out all the pieces. Then I thought “what a faff,” as I started reassembling all the pieces on to some backing card. And then the penny dropped! You aren’t supposed to cut out all the pieces, it is designed to cut the outline of the pumpkinย and then add a deep groove for each of the pumpkin panels!!! Aren’t I just theย biggest pumpkin of them all??? So, once I’d mastered the die I stuck music manuscript over chipboard and cut out the pumpkin.

I inked the die cut and then added gold glitter glue around the edge and in each groove.

On one side I added a little arrangement of paper roses, muslin and a tiny glittered heart.

At the top there are bows and a little paper sunflower.

The word was printed on my computer.

Looking forward to seeing your musical creations over on the Crafty Boots Challenges Blog. Thanks for bussing by.

  1. Don’t tell me you have the pumpkin parts already, it is totally unfair, I have pumpkin jack only, now I need to get the pumpkin parts, omg, shopping again. The music sheet was a gorgeous idea, I love it, it reminded me to take a white pumpkin and paint it with music notes, it would look cute, no curving just painting…

    • I do ๐Ÿ™‚ However, I am yearning for Pumpkin Jack after seeing your fabulous project and it is currently on sale, so it would be rude not to buy! Hope you take pictures of your painted pumpkin ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Another fab Halloween project and something else to hang on you tree (that is if it isn’t too big, I cannot really tell the size from the photos).

I have a new Sizzix pumpkin die, this one cuts holes for the segments but does not go all the way the the edge so all the panels still hang together.
