Life’s A Beach

Another day and another new challenge, this time over at Crafty Boots Challenges. Our theme for the next fortnight is Life’s A Beach/Summer Holiday. I’m sharing a little vintage Beach Hut:

I made the shrine using the Artful Dwellings and Rectangles Alterations dies by Sizzix, cutting some extra strips of chipboard to build up the sides. I’ve used some stripy paper from the Gecko Galz Here Comes Santa Claus digital paper pack to cover and added some strips of blue to create the roof.

The image is from the Gecko Galz La Vie collage set.I cut out several and layered up using 3D gel to give her a bit of depth.

I’ve added a birchwood star to the inside and some little shell, wisps of gauze plus a button to decorate.

Check out the other inspirational designs from the Crafty Boots DT, we have some new members that we are welcoming on to the team this week so please buzz by and leave them a little love!

Now I really wish I was setting off to the beach today, instead I’m heading back down the M1 for another week of cooking.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Classic, someone says beach to either of us and we both think beach hut! I love the addition of the lady with her parasol and your driftwood star.

    Have a good week.

    • Thank you – there is something about beach huts that is just perfect! In Brighton they used to have them as a giant Advent Calendar at Christmas, each one housing a little project from a trader or organisation!!

  2. Boy could I use a real beach hut about now. Have not been to our local state park lake all summer, boo hiss. And now school has started here today so youngest granddaughter can’t go with me. Trying to get hubs to go is like pulling horses teeth. Heaven forbid he should go just cause it’s what I love to do. And Veterans are free all month at state parks. It’s been a weird summer here, just didn’t feel like summer and with school starting so early it sure cuts it off too quickly. How has your summer been?
Your little beach hut is so cute. Where did you find the bather behind the umbrella? So cute as all your creations are. How did you make that umbrella? So darned inventive as always. You have lots of great tricks and techniques up your sleeve. Have you done anything fun this summer? Hope so. Happy week

    • Thank you. The bather and umbrella is one image taken form a Gecko Galz collage sheet and I just layered several together, slipping a cocktail stick in between. Shame you haven’t been able to the lake, it sounds fabulous. It is strange to think it’s back to school for you and yours, over here they have had around 3 weeks and another 3 to go, more for some, not starting back until September. My summer has just been work, work, work – away from home too 🙁

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
