It is no secret that I am a fan of little houses and collect favourites on my Pinterest board. Today I have a little trio of my own to share:
I originally made these as beach huts for my DT sample for the Anything But A Card Summer Lovin’ challenge. However, after I had covered them with paper they looked more proper house than beach house plus they were two big to fit on a piece of driftwood. So instead I made a smaller version:
I’m pleased that I have been able to return to the originals and finish them off in honour of this week’s Sunday Stampers challenge which has the theme of patterned papers. I have used the Tim Holtz Artful Dwellings Alterations die to cut houses from some sturdy chipboard – some packaging from 12 x 12 card! I am indebted to my blog pal Ruth Levy for giving me the idea – make sure you check out the fabulous triptych that she made as well as the rest of her fabulous work.
I covered each base with a variety of pattered papers from my stash and added some doors. Then I gave it all a coat of Mod Podge gloss – this not only seals it all but, and this is a tip I learned from Hels Sheridan, but she uses Glue and Seal, if you mess up when you start adding extra decoration, you can wipe it off and start again. Perfect for someone like me.
I’ve added smears of white acrylic paint and stamping.
The words were also stamped, using my large random word stamp, on to kraft card. The hearts were die cut. Both have been sealed with more Mod Podge gloss. I’ve added some additional shading, for depth and highlights, using black and white Stabilo All pencils.
To hold it all together I’ve used some spotted duck tape front and back, this also allows it to concertina/fold.
I’m off on my travels again today – not far, but far enough to necessitate an overnight stay and I don’t want to go 🙁
Thanks for buzzing by.
