Happy Father’s Day

So having celebrated Mr Beez’ birthday yesterday, today he gets another day in the spotlight for Father’s Day. I already shared the card I made for him earlier this week. Today I have a different project to share:

This is one of my MDF crowns that I have altered using some papers and an image from the Gecko Galz. I’ve covered the crown with paper from last year’s Dapper Dan collection. This is a fabulous paper that looks like a torn collage of different papers. I’ve inked the edges with Walnut Stain and then given it coat of glossy Mod Podge.

I’ve added some metal stars and some buttons that have been painted with bronze acrylic paint. There’s a smidge of Vintage Photo Stickles too.

The chipboard frame has also been painted with bronze acrylic. The image is from last month’s Who’s the man collage set. I’ve layered the frame on a scrap of muslin that has been dyed with Brushed Corduroy Distress Stain and then flooded the aperture with glossy accents. The words were printed on my computer.

  1. Wow I love your altered crown, the background is so great, the collage from the newspaper and the color of it, it looks like you covered it with beeswax. Mr Beez has to be very happy!

    • Oh, wish I had thought about covering it with beeswax!!!! That’s for you lovely comment BUT also for a GREAT idea 🙂

  2. You sure know how to make a guy feel special … this is terrific! My DH has 3 grown up kids … Only one bothered to phone him … none sent cards as usual … Makes me sad and very mad … still, I baked for him …

    • That’s such a pity Ros and I can understand you both being sad and mad. I remember a colleague whose sons never sent her a birthday card never mind a mother’s day card!! Lovely to bake for him – I was top trumped by my cousin in that respect who made his favourite lemon shortbread from a recipe I had given her. :$

    • Thank you – they were a great buy from C& C along with the hearts. I did find a supplier elsewhere but I can’t remember where it was – so annoying!!!!!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
