This month is another that contains five Sunday’s and consequently a mini-challenge over at Anything But A Card with the theme of “five.” Last time round I altered a domino so this month I thought I would stick with the gaming theme and alter a playing card:
I’ve chosen “five for silver”, the line from the magpie song/rhyme and used this fabulous magpie in a “titfer” as the focal point. This is another fabulous design from the brilliant Catslife Press.
I added strips of torn paper to the card and smeared on a little white acrylic paint. Once dry, I gave everything a coat of watered down PVA. Next, I applied some white texture paste through a leafy stencil and allowed to dry overnight.
The black dots were stamped at random, then I applied the magpie using the tissue transfer technique.
In keeping with the five theme I added five paper flowers, which have been stamped with script, and used Stickles to give them glittery centres that I thought would appeal to the magpie. Hidden amongst the flowers are five silver charms – no doubt mister magpie’s stash!
I have always loved the magpie rhyme and always distraught if I see a single bird anywhere near me. I try to balance it out by remembering that I have never received a stash of silver or gold when seeing six or seven of them!!
I hope you’ll take five and find time to share your project with us all at Anything But A Card, buzz over and be inspired by the rest of the Design Team.
