Celebration tinged with sadness

Today sees a new challenge begin over at Anything But A Card and the theme, for the 50th challenge is “Celebration.” However, it is a celebration that is tinged with sadness as it is to be the last. I was thrilled when I received an email asking me if I would like to join the DT, wild horses wouldn’t have stopped me from saying “yes!” I’ve loved every minute of the past two years that I have spent on the DT and especially enjoying the work of the  super-talented members of not only my fellow teamies, but those that have played along with us each week. I shall miss it hugely, not least because it was truly a place for those that like to create things other than cards. Here’s my piece for the ABAC finale:

Well of course it had to be Agatha! Here she is wearing her little crown waiting until you are not looking (I’ve always thought she is a little shy) so she can dive into her pile of presents. Agatha Crown, by Magda Polakow and Piling Thing, by Daniel Torrente, both for Stampotique.

I’ve used an wooden ATC as the base. Made by Calico Craft Parts, these ATCs are fabulous and come, with frames, in all sorts of designs I love this one in the shape of an arch.  They are so reasonable, I think they make a nice alternative if you want to give someone something that’s a little more than I card. I usually paint the back in white and then add a label with my greeting. Here, I’ve given it a base coat of gesso the applied some Dylusions paints. The text was stamped using black Archival ink and the spots were more Dylusions applies with a stamp.

Agatha and the presents have been stamped, coloured with Polychromos and then mounted onto some thicker card to make them nice and sturdy. I made a little bit of bunting from some scraps and finished the whole thing off with the sentiment.

We’d love to have a bumper crop of entries so we can go out with a bang, so do come and join us if you can. I’m going to miss creating for Anything But A Card and I hope that something comes along soon to plug that little gap in my creating.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Awww, I’ve always loved seeing your Agatha pieces, so sweet ! It’s been fun seeing all of the creative pieces that you designed for Anything But A Card. Keep on Crafting !

    • Thank you so much Heather, I am very touched by your kind comments. I shall certainly continue to share non-cards and there are some new Agathas on the way 🙂

  2. Aw I’m sorry you’re sad too, along with Agatha. (and i mean that in nice way,not sarcastic, you’re a nice lady) Think would be hard to not create for “abac” after 2 yrs. Is Anything but a card disbanding or your two years are over? You have certainly been one busy bee for the 2 yrs. creating so many fun, awesome, adorable abac’s. How you find time to do all you do is a mystery with you working and your family. I’ve so enjoyed all the “girls” and how you’ve kept them alive. Love little house used this time with arch and presents. You use your inks etc with such a flourish to make your creations sing. Maybe you could enjoy few minutes of relaxation, not as much fun maybe as creating “abac”. Have great Sunday and look forward to seeing what you do next.

    • Thank you as always for your lovely comments, I always look forward to hearing from you over the weekend:) This is the end of the ABAC challenge blog, wild horses wouldn’t have dragged me off the DT if it was still carrying on!! Hoping something else might come my way – there are lots of new Agathas available 🙂

  3. Oh Lisette this is so so cute !!!!! I haven’t seen the wooden ATC’s.. I will have to keep my eye out for them… I know how you feel… bittersweet that this is our last challenge… Keep an eye out on http://designteamcalls.com/listings/ … I was picked up for two more design teams. I know how important staying in the loop is with our creativity and creating with others that are also passionate about art is priceless !!! I loved creating with you xoxox

    • Thanks so much Toni and also for the heads up on the DT site. Loved your creations too and am going to miss it all dreadfully. xx
