Birds of Paradise

A new challenge kicks of over at Anything But A Card this week and the theme is Repeating Motifs and Patterns. I have another multi-coloured offering in this little flock of birds:

P1080538

The bird image is from last month’s fabulous Gecko Galz digital stamp set Zen TangleĀ I printed the images off and then stuck them on to some chipboard before cutting out.

P1080540

I’ve then simply used different distress inks to add colour. Printing the images out the night before you need them gives them chance to dry thoroughly and prevent bleeding if you are using an ink-jet printer.

P1080541

I’ve used a white pen to add some definition and then the words.

P1080542

I’ve sealed everything with a coat of Mod Podge sparkle.

P1080537

The ribbons are seam binding that have been coloured with the same inks that I used for the birds and I crumpled them up to give a crinkly texture.

Be sure to buzz over to Anything But A Card and see what the rest of the DT have been up to and I hope you have time to share your patterned projects with us over the next three weeks.

Happy Sunday and thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Ow, wow, your colouring of these images looks amazing and the white pen really makes them pop. They would look great on a Christmas tree.

I keep saying that I am going to have a go at Zentangle but never get around to it – one of these days.

    • Thank you. I fancy a go at zentangle too but ….!!! However, these GG images are a great set to use instead šŸ™‚ xx

  2. These are absolutely GORGEOUS! I love the birds AND the sayings! I would like to try making something like this but I think I will put the words on a little tag and attach it to the ribbon so that it does not take away from the bird’s bodies…the designs are so lovely on the sides of the birds that I hate to cover them up with the wonderful phrases! Love the idea and the colors are gorgeous!

  3. These are beautiful. What a great idea. I am so going to look into printed zentangles, because I cannot draw for nothing. LOL
    Love, love, love this project.

    • Thank you Brenda and the set of images in this set are brilliant. I always think zentangling would be fun but it’s not as straightforward as it appears!!

  4. Finally getting around to visiting again! I think I commented on these somewhere before, but just in case I didn’t… I really love these birds! The colors are so pretty and who doesn’t love a little sparkle?!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
