Batty button witch

Back from my few days r & r in Cromer, Norfolk where, despite the grim weather, it really did feel like we’d got away from it all. We had a sea view from our room and there was even a little settee for us to sit and watch and listen the tide come and go. At times, the wind was ferocious so there were some dramatic waves. Naturally, we returned home with a bag full of crab.

The new challenge at Anything But A Card is orange and black. Here’s my Design Team piece:

P1050568I can’t resist the opportunity to make a button fairy so am always on the look out for an image that will lend itself to the making of one. This little lady is one of the witch images from the Gecko Galz Witchy Women collage sheet. My usual trick when creating a button fairy is to add some butterfly wings but here I’ve kept the original bat wings and just doubled them up, adding a little silver glitter to the edges.

I made a little black skirt from some dyed muslin and then threaded black and orange buttons onto wire to create the body, finishing off with a piece of orange glittery ribbon.

The finishing touches were to give her a little orange rose and a silver star.

Be sure to check out what my fellow Anything But A Card Design Team members have been up to. Julie has created the most stunning butterfly wreath. I hope you’ll have time to share your orange and black projects with us – the challenge runs for another two weeks.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. I love the photos of Cromer, it certainly was windy last weekend!

Your witchy lady does not look very happy but perhaps someone put a spell on her to turn her legs into buttons! I love the glitter on her wings and your lovely amber buttons.

    • Ha ha! I wondered if she was hatching a plot of some sort. It really was windy (we had to hang on to the buildings walking up Jetty Street!), hope it’s a bit calmer for you. xxx

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
