Anything But A Card

Who took the brakes off? It was Friday a few seconds ago and now here we are again starting off another week. It’s another double this week as both Crafty Boots and My Artistic Adventures kick off new challenges. I decided to double up and create one project that would suit both challenges.

The theme over at Crafty Boots is Anything But A Card, you’ll have to wait until later this afternoon to find out what the new theme is at My Artistic Adventures!  You’ll have to take my word for it that my little tower of ATC blocks fits both challenges perfectly! I’m also sharing this over at Unruly Paper Arts for their March Reader’s Art Quest which has the them of “I should be so lucky.” If you saw my last block you will know that I have a Sizzix die that makes rustling up the base cubes super quick. I don’t even have the extra long cutting pads that are required. The other beauty of these is that, when short on time, I can cut the blocks and get them glued together, assemble the papers and embellies and then, when the crafting window of opportunity presents itself, I can fiddle about and assemble it all.

For these blocks I used olive green cardstock and then used Heather’s fabulous new Shamrock and Spring Green digital paper sets plus the Pink and Green St Patrick’s Day Tickets. I keep the assembled cubes separate until they are decorated and treat each face like a separate little canvas. I’ve layered up the papers and topped them off with a ticket.

I embellished them with dots of glitter, tiny bows, scraps of lace, flowers and buttons.

I made some tiny shamrocks by punching out tiny hearts, creasing them down the centre and the gluing together. I glued two different papers together so they are patterned back and front. Once they were dry, I adhered the shamrocks to a little florists wire and added a gem to the centre.

On the top of the tower I used a little glass vial to hold three shamrocks.

You can of course leave one edge of the blocks unsealed and create a little box. Great for adding a few gold coins to 🙂

I love all the sentiments on each of the tags. The one below is my particular favourite!

Except I would add in “and cake” after the word tea!!!

Be sure to buzz over to Crafty Boots and see what the rest of the DT have created for this challenge. From the sneaky peeks I saw you are in for a treat. I hope you’ll have time to share your Anything But A Card projects with us over the next fortnight.

You can also buzz back here later today to find out more about the new My Artistic Adventures Challenge and see another project that I made using Heather’s papers and images. Meanwhile, I shall be whipping up Speedy Chicken Biryani down at the YHA HQ in Matlock 🙂

    • Thanks so much Lesline – aren’t the sentiments fab. I will have to see if I can squeeze in another before March 17th !

  1. Amazing project Mrs Beez, you have put so much work into your ATC blocks …. I think you deserve some tea and cake.

    Dionne xx

PS I could not help playing name that theme at My Artistic Adventures. My first guess is ‘Green’, but upon closer inspection it could be something to do with ‘St Patrick’s Day’.

    • Thank you! I had the cake, or should I say cakes!!! It would have course have helped if I had remembered to schedule properly (set the date and time but didn’t save!). You were almost spot on with your first guess as it is Bits of Green!! xx

  2. Lisette, I love these ATBs if I may call them like that, I love working on boxes, it gives so much dimension, and here your paper layering is just adding to that feeling. Amazing project!

    • Certainly – I think ATBs is what “people in the know” call them! I love it that they give you so much playing area so you can throw everything on instead of making choices!! 🙂

  3. Lisette this is a gorgeous St Pat’s Day project using your ATB Die……I love all the wonderful vintage images and your embellishing. Thanks so much for joining us at Unruly PaperArts this month. Danie xx

  4. Thanks for participating in the Unruly PaperArts RAQ — stunning!!! Love the images, heart clover at the top and your perfect glitter dots add the finishing touch!!!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
